About
1922: The Beginning
The Rossland Trail Country Club was organized on April 22, 1922. The first year there were 81 shareholders, 56 were playing members. The first course was on what was known as Floyd Ranch (Water Hole) located just above Warfield. In 1926 the Club, with land leased from Cominco, constructed the 9 - hole course in Rossland.
1962-1969: The Birchbank Course is Added
In 1962 on property once again leased from Cominco, construction of the Birchbank course began, with the first 9 holes completed in 1964. The back 9 and clubhouse were completed in 1969. The course was designed by local golf professional Roy Stone.
1968
On February 12, 1968, the Rossland Trail Country Club was incorporated as a Society under the Societies Act.
2004
The Rossland Trail Country Club purchased the Birchbank property from Cominco.
2006
Cominco sold the Rossland Course Land and a lease buyout was negotiated with the current owners. This was the last year that a member of the Rossland Trail Country Club had playing rights at both the Rossland and Birchbank courses.
Today
"Rossland Trail Country Club" continues to be the legal name of the non-profit society, but the brand name Birchbank Golf is used in all marketing/promotional aspects of the course.
